[CA11] Ray55 VHF to Axiom connection
Attempting to connect my Ray55 VHF to my new Axiom 12 for GPS. “No GPS” displayed on the VHF. It is connected via a converter: Master MFD spur to connector cable to white connector cable to converter (white port), then from the yellow converter port, red and yellow pigtail wires to grey and purple to VHF. Should I be feeding power to the converter independently via a white port and red cable? Axiom manual seems to say NO, that the spur should provide power and it must only be fed that way?

[CA11] RE: Ray55 VHF to Axiom connection
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Keemosabe,

Q. Should I be feeding power to the converter independently via a white port and red cable?
A. Yes. Per the FAQ found here, Raymarine MFDs are neither designed to be powered by, nor have they been designed to supply power to a SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000 backbone. The FAQ found here addresses how a DSC VHF radio having a NMEA 0183 communications interface may be supplied with GPS data from a MFD lacking a NMEA 0183 communications interface.
