[CA11] Unaddressed LH 3 feature missing
The last updated list of gap features for LH2-to-3 doesn't mention updating product software via Wi-Fi and/or connecting the MFD to a Wi-Fi access point. For MFD's running LightHouse II software, this feature was used for WiFi bridging, where users can connect to the MFD via Wi-Fi while also having the MFD act as a client to a different access point, allowing the clients connected to the MFD and the MFD itself to have access to the Internet. While this feature is supported by Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs running LightHouse 3 software it is not presently supported by eS/gS-Series MFDs which are running LightHouse 3 software. Not having this feature means that users are forced to update both system and navigational/charting applications manually and independently. It also is cumbersome to use under way when external connectivity is required.

Is it possible to confirm if this feature can be expected to be added? Can its omission be included in the list of LHII to LH3 gap features?

For me, this feature disparity is a show stopper. Will be reverting back to LH2 until it's addressed.

RE: [CA11] Unaddressed LH 3 feature missing
Welcome back to the Raymarine Forum Cary,

Thanks for the feature request. As a rule of thumb and until such time as Raymarine completes its work in addressing the remaining LHII to LH3 gap features, customers of eS/gS-Series MFDs are typically advised to run LightHouse II software within their MFDs unless,
- the system additionally features Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs
- the system features a Quantum II radome and the user is seeking to make use of LH3's Doppler radar features

A feature request will be logged to consider this feature within a future LightHouse 3 software update for eS/gS-Series MFDs.

Please click here more information concerning product and feature suggestions.

RE: [CA11] Unaddressed LH 3 feature missing
Just over a year now.
I see no reference made in any of the currently posted LH 2 to LH 3 feature comparisons, or version update erratum indicating either the absence or recent inclusion of this feature.

Is there any way to check status of this?

I've been holding off on purchasing a new Quantum 2 radar, because it won't run without LH 3 and I can't use LH 3 until wifi bridging is working.

Respectfully,

Cary Stotland

RE: [CA11] Unaddressed LH 3 feature missing
Cary,

Unfortunately, this feature has not been included within the final LightHouse 3 software update for the eS/gS-Series MFDs (v3.11.x), the release of which is imminent. Future LightHouse 3 software updates will be restricted to Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs. Should this feature be critical to the operation of your system, then it would be recommended that the system's software be downgraded to LightHouse II v19.03. Unfortunately and as you have inferred, while Quantum 2 radomes may be interfaced to MFDs operating LightHouse II software, their Doppler radar features will not be utilized. The resulting radar performance would then be identical to a system featuring a Quantum radome rather than a Quantum 2 radome.
