Upgrading system
Just purchased a 2010 Tiara 4300 Sovran with the factory Raymarine package. Which includes: Dual E90W, ST70 Autopilot, ST70 repeater, 4kw HD Radar, Raymarine, 240 VHF, DSM 300 Depth module, Raystar 125 Antenna, B260 Transducer.

My question is can I upgrade to a E125 or ES125 and keep all my existing components??

Secondly can I replace the ST70 Autopilot head with a P70R?? Thanks in advance. Tom

RE: Upgrading system
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Tom,

Q1. System includes: Dual E90W, ST70 Autopilot, ST70 repeater, 4kw HD Radar, Raymarine, 240 VHF, DSM 300 Depth module, Raystar 125 Antenna, B260 Transducer. Can I upgrade to a E125 or ES125 and keep all my existing components?
A1. All of the items listed above (except for the second E90W MFD) may be retained for use with a system featuring a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. It is strongly recommended that all devices having a SeaTalkng communications interface (ex. ST70 AP Control Head, SPX Autopilot Course Computer, ST70 Multifunction Instrument Display) be updated with the latest available Raymarine product software updates to ensure compatibility and maximum performance of the system.

Q2. Secondly can I replace the ST70 Autopilot head with a P70R??
A2. While the answer to your question is quite likely yes, compatibility is dependent upon the model of autopilot course computer which has been interfaced to your present system. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject.

RE: Upgrading system
What model MFD would be best as a replacement?

RE: Upgrading system
Tom,

With respect to functions, these e-Series MFDs are virtually identical to the eS-Series MFDs. However, as the e-Series MFDs are being replaced by the eS-Series MFDs, you may want to consider replacing the E90W MFDs with a pair of eS125 MFDs is seeking the latest generation of these MFDs and seeking the greatest length of support for parts and service.

RE: Upgrading system
Hi Chuck. I have the DSM300, which cuts out from time to time, would the ES127 fix that?? It has a B260 transducer. Thanks again! Tom.

RE: Upgrading system
Tom,

It is indeed possible for B260 fishfinder transducers designed for use with a DSM300 to instead be adapted (part #E66066) to be mated to the transducer socket of an ax7/cx7/e7D, ex7, or eSx7 MFD. The internal ClearPulse sounder circuitry of these MFDs will support driving the transducer with 600W. Should it be desired to drive the transducer with 1kW, then it would be recommended that the DSM300 be replaced with a CP370 Sounder Module. As the CP370 would be performing the fishfinder sounder processing, a MFD lacking internal ClearPulse sounder circuitry (ex. ax5/cx5/e7/ex5/eSx5/gSx5 or ax8/eSx8) would typically be recommended, as the internal sounder circuitry of an ax7/cx7/e7D, ex7, or eSx7 MFD would be replaced by the CP370.

RE: Upgrading system
Tom,

Should there be a suspected fault with your DSM, then it is recommended that it be sent to Raymarine's Product Repair Center to be bench tested. Should the DSM be interfaced via Ethernet communications to one's system (in your case it is) and bench testing determine that the DSM has suffered a failure, then it may be replaced with a CP370 by the Repair Center.
