[CA11] Element Networking
So I understand that the networking feature of the Element series is pretty new. Trying to decide between a single 12" or 2 9" for my boat. I have a couple questions regarding networking the 2 9"...

1. When networked I see it says they will share waypoints, but will they share sonar data? Will I be able to pull up sonar on one screen and downvision on the other?

2. If it doesn't share sonar data, is there a Y cable available that would allow the sonar data to be sent to both screens?

3. If the Y cable isn't an option, are there plans for a future software update that would share sonar data between both units?

Thanks!

RE: [CA11] Element Networking
Welcome the Raymarine Forum nateeric,

Unlike Raymarine's MFDs which are designed to communicate with one another via an Ethernet communications network to share virtually all data and resources, Element displays have been designed for use in stand-alone applications. Accordingly, they are designed to share a very limited set of data with other Element displays. If seeking to have more than one display onboard where radar, fishfinder, or cartography will be shared among the displays, then it would be recommended that Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs be considered.

Q1a. When networked I see it says they will share waypoints, but will they share sonar data?
A1a. Negative.

Q2a. Will I be able to pull up sonar on one screen and downvision on the other?
A2a. Not unless the second Element display has been interfaced to a transducer as well.

Q2. If it doesn't share sonar data, is there a Y cable available that would allow the sonar data to be sent to both screens?
A2. Negative.

Q3. If the Y cable isn't an option, are there plans for a future software update that would share sonar data between both units?
A3. Negative. As indicated above, the application which you would have described would be that for which the Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs have been designed.

RE: [CA11] Element Networking
Thanks for your reply. Looks like I will be going with a single unit then, I'm quite interested in the hypervision which the Axiom series doesn't support.

I guess my next question would be are the axioms ever going to support hypervision, but I'd guess since they're geared more towards off-shore applications where the limited range of hypervision wouldn't be very useful it's at the bottom of the request list.

RE: [CA11] Element Networking
nateeric,

The Element Fishfinder/Chartplotters are targeted at the smaller boat / single / non-networked display market demographic which will be operating in relatively shallow water. More specifically, the 1.2 megahertz HyperVision sonar technology is designed to support operation in depths up to 100’ (30 meters). This places HyperVision sonar technology more specifically into the shallow fresh water and the shallow coastal market demographic rather than the deep fresh water and deep offshore market demographic. The latter market demographic is more applicable RealVision, DownVision, 1kW CHIRP, or 50kHz/200kHz sonar technology. While it is possible that HyperVision may be introduced to the Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs via a sonar module accessory, Raymarine has not yet released any corresponding information to the public.

A product feature request will be logged to consider introduction of a HyperVision sonar module accessory to the Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom MFD product line. Please click here more information concerning product and feature suggestions.

RE: [CA11] Element Networking
Thanks for your help on this. Being in ND, we don't have much for costal waters around me, so Hypervision should be perfect for the rivers and lakes I fish.

I'll keep watching the Axiom series hopefully for hypervision, but I think an Element 12 is in my future.

Thanks again.

RE: [CA11] Element Networking
So you are saying that the Element 12 would not be a choice of fishing 300 ft. of water or just the hyper vision? also
Q. Can the Element network the Evolution autopilot?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum tookalook1,

Q1. So you are saying that the Element 12 would not be a choice of fishing 300 ft. of water or just the hyper vision? also
A1. Please see my earlier response to nateeric. Specifically, HyperVision is not supported at this depth.

Q2. Can the Element network the Evolution autopilot?
A2. Yes.
