[CA11] AIS 700 silent mode without MMSI programmed?
Will the AIS 700 operate in silent mode without an MMSI number?
We are waiting for our USCG documentation number to get an MMSI number and would like to know that the installation is working. The manual suggests that it won't display any targets without an MMSI number. Thanks!

RE: [CA11] AIS 700 silent mode without MMSI programmed?
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum TCS,

Until a MMSI has been entered into Raymarine's AIS transceivers, they will not support transmitting your vessel's AIS data to other AIS receivers / transceivers. However, lack of a MMSI will not prevent Raymarine's AIS transceivers from being able to function as as an AIS receiver. Please additionally note that within the US, the FCC restricts entering MMSIs into AIS transceivers to marine electronics dealers, professional marine electronics installers, and FCC licensed marine electronics technicians. Accordingly, it may be necessary to contact your Raymarine dealer / installer to program your AIS transceiver with the MMSI when obtained from the FCC.
