Raymarine forum

Have you used one - particularly the new Raymarine unit? I plugged one in today and - without leaving the dock - I’m not quite sure how I would use in underway. I started with proportional but the aggressive self-centering spring made it behave very differently than my wheel - where I can dial in an offset and then take my hand off the wheel and it doesn’t change. The bang-bang mode does not self-center but you have to watch the rudder indicator to get it to the point you want - I guess that’s closer to normal steering.

I’m not sure what I was expecting, but I’m hoping here’s some new use case that’s going to make this more useful - right now I’m not getting the point.
