Raymarine Mobile Apps unable to connect with my MFD
The following actions should be taken when the Raymarine Mobile Apps report that they are unable to establish communications with the MFD:
1. should you own an a-Series MFD, verify that it is Wi-Fi equipped. Since the introduction of the 6" and 7" a-Series MFDs, Raymarine has offered versions of the a-Series MFDs with Wi-Fi communications circuitry and versions of these same MFDs lacking Wi-Fi communications circuitry as a cost savings alternative to consumers. MFDs produced without Wi-Fi communications circuitry cannot be updated with Wi-Fi communications circuitry. A-Series MFDs having the following product IDs did not include Wi-Fi communications circuitry: E70076 a65, E70077 a67, E70206 a68, E70164 a75, E70165 a77, E70208 a78.
2. verify that that your mobile device is compatible with the Raymarine Mobile Apps (use the link to the list of compatible devices on the Raymarine Mobile Apps web page)
3. verify that your a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD has been updated with the latest a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software.
4. verify that your mobile device has been updated with the latest IOS or Android operating system update
5. verify that you have updated the Raymarine Mobile App which is installed on your mobile device
6. kill all background processes which may be running on the mobile device.
7. configure the MFD's WiFi feature ON (HOME->SET-UP->WIRELESS CONNECTIONS->WI-FI->WI-FI) to ON.
8. note the MFD's WiFi Name (HOME->SET-UP->WIRELESS CONNECTIONS->WI-FI->WI-FI SHARING->WI-FI NAME)
9. configure the MFD's WiFi Security to NONE until you have got the process down
10. configure the MFD's Remote Apps configuration setting (HOME->MENU->SYSTEM SETTINGS->WIRELESS CONNECTIONS->MOBILE APPS) to REMOTE CONTROL or VIEWING depending upon whether you desire the app to remotely control the MFD
11. configure the mobile device's Wi-Fi settings to connect to the WiFi Name of your MFD noted above
12. run the Raymarine Mobile App
Should you have performed each one of the items listed above and continue to experience problems, then it is recommended the MFD's Wi-Fi be tested by using one of the Raymarine Mobile apps with a different mobile device. Should the problem be duplicated with the Raymarine Mobile app running on a different mobile device, then it is recommended that the MFD be sent to Raymarine's Product Repair Center to be bench tested / serviced.
