Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Mark,
I just downloaded the SR150 2015209 software update file (SR150_20150209_(via_a_c_e Series_v7xx).zip) and encountered no problems in opening this file created using standard WinZip file compression. There are a couple of youtube video links below which you may find useful:
- via Windows OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49SIv2LpOhY
- via Mac OS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AiQHvpJU-sA

Is it because I am using a Mac? Here is what gets downloaded:
- a main folder SR150_20150523 (via E Wide)
- autorune.dob
- a small yellow box r150-201305.pkg
I see no "zip" file.
When I try to open the "yellow box" part (to get the detailed files that I need to copy to the sd card), here is the error message that I get:
The operation couldn’t be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)

Mark,
It appears that you have made two errors:
1) your profile indicates that you own an e165 MFD. This product belong to a family of MFDs referred to as that a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs. These are not E-Series Widescreen MFDs. Based on the information which you have provided concerning the files you have attempted to manipulate, you have erroneously downloaded the SR150 software update via an E-Series Widescreen MFD rather than via an a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD.
2) Your computer's Mac OS appears to have already unzipped the Zip file downloaded from Raymarine's web site. After downloading the correct SR150 software update file (SR150_20150209_(via_a_c_e Series_v7xx).zip), then simply copy the following files from within the unzipped Zip file to the root level directory of your microSD memory card:
- 2015209patch.pkg
- rayatom.autorun.00.sh
- rayatom.autorun.00.sh.sig

Thanks, Chuck. I have E165W's which is why a picked the download that I did. Is the download I picked still wrong? Further, I thought I had to get to the details in the *.pkg file. Do I understand correctly that the MFD will accept the complete .pkg file as is?

Mark,
Please note that Raymarine has produced no product having the name E165W. Should you examine the MFD's packaging label or examine the MFD's Select Device list (HOME->SET-UP->MAINTENANCE->DIAGNOSTICS->SELECT DEVICE) you will find that it is identified as an e165 and that the first half of its serial number is E70025. Per my last response, you have downloaded the wrong software update file for the SR150.

Chuck,
I downloaded the correct patch and moved the three files you suggested to the card. On the boat, when I put the card in the mfd, nothing happened (unlike when I do a general Lighthouse update, and the mfd takes over as soon as I put the card in). How do I get the mfd to "take" the update?Perhaps does it need to be done at the same time a general update is made? Thanks.

Mark,
Unlike the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software updates which may be initiated by inserting the microSD memory card containing the software update files into the MFD's reader after the MFD has completed booting, the microSD memory card containing the software update files must be inserted into the MFD's reader prior to powering up the MFD. Per the instructions posted on the SR150 software update web page:
Updating the SR150 using a, c, e, eS or gS Series MFD's
1) Please make sure RayNet (SeaTalkhs) is connected to both the SR150 and the MASTER Multifunction Display (MFD), and that all are powered before starting the update procedure.
2) With the MFD powered down, place the mSD card with the SR150 software into the MFD and turn it on. – The MFD will search for the remote SR150 and proceed to upgrade the software.
3) MFD will show update % progress and eventually “Upgrade Complete†for the product/s.
4) Remove Card and Power cycle the whole system.
------It is very important that the SR150 is power cycled, so that the installed software is fully loaded into the product.
Once all the devices in the system are updated, configure the MFD's Weather Receiver Type (HOME->SET-UP->SYSTEM SETTINGS->EXTERNAL DEVICES->WEATHER SET-UP->RECEIVER TYPE) to SR150 and that the SR150's software is correct by going to the Select Devices list (HOME->SET-UP->MAINTENANCE->DIAGNOSTICS->SELECT DEVICE).
