Is the Axiom Pro compatible with my current transducer which is an Airmar B164-20 and will I need any type of adapter or anything? If so, can you please tell me what part number I'll need? Thanks.
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum tmoney316,
Of the various models of Axiom Pro MFDs, only the Axiom Pro RVX MFDs may be adapted for use with 50kHz/200kHz fishfinder transducers. B164 is the name given to a family of transducers produced by Airmar, each having unique characteristics. These include fishfinder variants which are each unique to a specific manufacturer and fishfinding product. Please attach a photo of the transducer's identification tab (clearly showing all information printed on the tag) to your response in order that we may determine which variant you have.
The Axiom Pro is the RVX version I'm looking into purchasing.
Here's the pictures I have for the B164.
I also have a CP370, is there any point in me keeping this if I get the Axiom Pro RVX since it's already 1kw? Thanks.
tmoney316,
The photos indicate that the currently installed transducer is one of
Airmar's Mix and Match transducers. Should this transducer have been previously used successfully with the CP370, then it would be recommended that it remain connected to the CP370 and that the CP370 be interface to the Axiom Pro MFD for the following reasons:
- it is possible that the Airmar Mix and Match transducer may not be detected by the Axiom Pro RVX MFD if it is adapted to be mated to the MFD's Transducer socket
- anecdotal feedback from some of Raymarine's customers who have compared 50kHz & 200kHz fishfinder channel performance of a CP370 and a the Axiom Pro RVX MFD's internal 1kW fishfinder circuitry with the same transducer. Some of these have indicated that the depth and sensitively were better when using the CP370.
As you already own a CP370, it would be recommended that it be retained and interfaced to the Axiom Pro RVX MFD.
