[CA11] Transducer compatibility with Axiom Pro - seeray96 - 12-06-19 12:27 PM

I currently have two transducers linked to my E120 Classic - an Airmar DST800-P17 235 mHz Retractable Triducer on the port side, and an Airmar B60-200-Ray 50/200 mHz (depth + temp) on the starboard side. This B60 connects to the E120 through a DSM300.
I may not use the Airmar B60-200.
My plan is to replace the E120 with the Axiom Pro 12 RVX. What complications can I expect?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum seeray96,

Q1. I may not use the Airmar B60-200.
A1. Should the currently installed B60-20 fishfinder transducer (or any other fishfinder transducer) be operational have been designed to be directly mated to a DSM250/30/300, CP300/CP370 (i.e. no adapter cable required), then I generally recommend that the transducer be retained and that it used in conjunction with a RV transducer(s) for those installing an Axiom DV/RV MFD or Axiom Pro RVX MFD. Y-Cables are offered by Raymarine for this purpose. Doing so will permit the MFD to additionally support 50kHz and 200kHz sounder imagery, and may additionally support permit operation at greater depths and speeds than would be supported by the RV transducer(s)

Likewise, the Airmar DST800-P17 235 mHz Retractable Triducer may be retained for use with the Axiom Pro RVX MFD. If the NMEA 0183 variant of this transducer is installed, then the transducer's NMEA 0183 output leads may be interfaced to the MFD's NMEA 0183 output leads. If the NMEA 2000 variant of this transducer is installed, then the transducer's cable would simply be plugged a spur socket within the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone

Q2. My plan is to replace the E120 with the Axiom Pro 12 RVX. What complications can I expect?
A2. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing replacement of an E-Series Classic MFD with an Axiom Pro RVX MFD.
