[CA11] GPS antenna question - BILL MC - 01-02-20 08:28 PM For an AXIOM display can I use and older model gps antenna or do I need a specific GA150 antenna? RE: [CA11] GPS antenna question - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 01-03-20 10:22 AM Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Bill, Unlike the Axiom Pro MFDs, Axiom XL MFDs, gS-Series MFDs, and larger eS-Series MFDs, the Axiom MFDs do not feature an external GPS antenna socket. Should the mounting location of the system's Axiom Pro MFDs, Axiom XL MFDs, gS-Series MFDs, or larger eS-Series MFDs not afford the system's MFDs acquire sufficient GPS signal strength, then - an external GPS sensor supporting SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications (ex. Raystar 150 GPS Sensor, Raystar 130 GPS Sensor, etc.) may be interfaced to a spur socket within the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone; or - an external Raymarine GA150 passive GPS antenna may be interfaced to the MFD's external GPS antenna socket; or - an external GPS sensor supporting NMEA 0183 communications (ex. Raystar 125 GPS Sensor, Raystar 120 NMEA 0183 GPS Sensor, etc.) may be interfaced to the NMEA 0183 leads of one of the system's MFDs; or - an external GPS sensor supporting SeaTalk communications (ex. Raystar 125 SeaTalk GPS Sensor, Raystar 120 SeaTalk GPS Sensor, etc.) may be interfaced to the SeaTalk socket of a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter within system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. Should the mounting location of the system's Axiom MFDs not afford the system's MFDs to acquire sufficient GPS signal strength, and as Axiom MFDs have neither an external GPS antenna socket nor a NMEA 0183 communications interface, then - an external GPS sensor supporting SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications (ex. Raystar 150 GPS Sensor, Raystar 130 GPS Sensor, etc.) may be interfaced to a spur socket within the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone; or - an external GPS sensor supporting NMEA 0183 communications (ex. Raystar 125 GPS Sensor, Raystar 120 NMEA 0183 GPS Sensor, etc.) may be interfaced a NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1) which in turn may be interfaced to a spur socket within the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone; or - an external GPS sensor supporting SeaTalk communications (ex. |
