[CA11] Upgrading Analog transducer to work with wireless displays - Sam_Labrador - 01-14-20 10:06 PM

For a sailboat.

Bought the boat with an Airmar St300 though hull speed temp sensor. All wiring is broken. It appears to have been hardwired to a TackTick Speedmaster (a long discontinued product).

Would like to replace it with Speed/depth sensor for the current Raymarine wireless displays.

Which transducer should we buy which will fit in the current through-hull fitting and will work with for wireless?

How do we connect the transducer data to the "wireless" displays?

The DST 800-0 Plastic through hull? Part Number: A22111 seems to be the leading candidate. But we cannot find a dimensional diagram to see if it will fit the ST300 through hull fitting.

The description says, " direct connect to STng backbone". But we cannot find any wiring diagrams of this setup. Could we wire it directly to Raymarine Wireless T122 Micronet Wireless Interface?

Thanks community for your responses.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Sam,

Q1. Which transducer should we buy which will fit in the current through-hull fitting and will work with for wireless?
A1. The Tack Tick system is dependent upon having analog depth and/or speed/temp transducers interfaced to a Tack Tick T121 Hull Transmitter, which in turn wirelessly communicates with the system's Tack Tick displays and/or remote. It is the Tack Tick displays or remote which are responsible for calibration and offset associated with depth and/or speed/temp transducers. Any of Raymarine's analog (not SMART) speed/temp transducers are compatible with the Tack Tick T121 Hull Transmitter. The E26008 ST300 was designed to be installed within a 2" [censored] are all of the other analog thru-hull instrument transducers offered by Raymarine.

Q2. How do we connect the transducer data to the "wireless" displays?
A2. See the response to Q1 ... the speed/temp transducer will not be interfaced to a display ... it will we interfaced to the Tack Tick Hull Transmitter.

Q3. The DST 800-0 Plastic through hull? Part Number: A22111 seems to be the leading candidate. But we cannot find a dimensional diagram to see if it will fit the ST300 through hull fitting.
A3. If replacing the ST300 with a DST800, the transducer's housing must be replaced with the housing supplied with the DST800.

A4. The description says, " direct connect to STng backbone". But we cannot find any wiring diagrams of this setup. Could we wire it directly to Raymarine Wireless T122 Micronet Wireless Interface.
A4. Negative. As indicated within the response to Q1, Tack Tick products are designed for use with analog, not SMART, transducers. If interested in a DST800, Raymarine offers both analog and SMART versions of the DST800. However, for maximum depth performance, it is generally recommended that separate depth and speed/temp transducers be installed.
