Grampy1,

The answer is dependent upon the type of communications interface(s) found within the third party electronics products. Should they feature a NMEA 2000 communications interface then the currently installed powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone may be expanded to include additional spur sockets to permit each third party NMEA 2000 device to be interfaced as a spur to the backbone. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how NMEA 2000 devices utilizing a DeviceNet (M) socket may be adapted to be interfaced to a SeaTalkng spur socket.

Should the third party products feature a NMEA 0183 v2.0 or higher communications interface, then these third party products may be interface to a NMEA 0183 multiplexer (for more than one third party device), which in turn may be interface to a NMEA 0183 to NMEA 2000 data bridging device (ex. Actisense NGW-1-STNG, etc.), which in turn may be interfaced to a spur socket within the aforementioned backbone.
