[CA11] Quantum E70210 no return on Axiom 12 - Tkm - 02-17-20 03:47 PM

Quantum radar stopped working while on passage fl to bahamas. Unit powers up, connects to Axiom and transmits with no error messages. Turning gain up high it appeares the array is sweeping around but there is no return at any distance or level. Same result whether connected via raynet or WiFi. We didn’t experience any lightning or power surges. Axiom and quantum units both have latest software, and quantum has been reset. Any additional troubleshooting ideas welcome.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Tkm,

It is recommended that the vessel be connected to shore power, that its batteries be brought up to a fully charged state, and that afterwards and while still connected by shore power be tested again. Should the problem persist when tested in this manner, then the last resort would be to perform a Power ON Factory Reset Procedure to the Axiom MFD to potentially restore operation of the radar features. Should the problem persist, then it would unfortunately appear that the Quantum radome has suffered a failure necessitating that it be repaired or replace. It installed by a Certified Raymarine Installer or Certified Raymarine OEM and still under warranty, the radome may qualify for onboard warranty. To view more about Raymarine's onboard warranty, click here. If not, then the radome will need to be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Thanks chuck, connecting to shore power is not a viable option for us at the moment, but we have fully charged our batteries via our generator

I checked the voltage up the mast at the power supply on the bottom of the unit and the voltage was 14v. . By power on reset do you mean resetting the radar only or the whole network?

Tkm,

Q. By power on reset do you mean resetting the radar only or the whole network?
A. Negative. Please click on the Power On Reset Procedure link within my initial post to this thread to view how to perform this procedure to the Axiom MFD.

Thanks for your response. Will this procedure then require calibration of the other instruments, eg autopilot, wind instrument?
