Hi, We're working on a sailboat and customer is complaining of something ive never heard and I'm wondering if you guys can be of any help.
Mfd is an 12inch axiom pro, Radar is a 18" digital new within the last 2 years. All day long the axiom is on and has strong gps fix with no issues. As soon as night time hits the customer turns on the radar for night sailing. When radar comes on the gps signal drops out frequently and struggles to reconnect. This has happened in numerous locations and weather scenarios. Software is current.
Any suggestions?? Thank you.

What make/model device is functioning as the system's GPS data source? From a proximity and line of sight standpoint, where has the radome been installed in relation to the system's GPS data source?

The axiom using the internal gps. Mounted in a nav pod at the outer helm. The radar is mounted half way up on the mast.

Is the radome interfaced to the system via a Quantum Data Cable or Digital Radar Cable ... or is the MFD interfacing with the radome via WiFi.

It is the digital radar cable.

I would recommend connecting the vessel to shore power, fully charging the boat's batteries, and then while still connected to shore power testing the system. Should the problem persist, then all equipment (electronics, inverters, shipboard systems, etc.) and circuits onboard except for those powering the MFD and radome should be switched OFF. Should the problem be replicated, then it would be recommended that the radome and MFD be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.
