Newly purchased S100, running an EV400 thru a ST1-STNG converter. The converter works fine, all data is available on ST1 and STNG, it was pre-existing. The remote pairs with the transceiver and will operate the pilot, but only if it is within inches of the transceiver.

Batteries for remote, tried two sets, at 3.1V
Voltage on +/- pins on transceiver 12.6V

I could make no sense of the instructions about the power cable. Does the transceiver need a dedicated circuit instead of power from ST1?

The SeaTalk bus, which in this case includes several SeaTalk devices may indeed be powered by the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone via the SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter. It is unclear whether you were using rechargeable or alkaline batteries with the S100. Please test the S100 with set of fresh, quality alkaline batteries if you haven't done so already. Should the problem persist, any potential issue of RF interference may be ruled out by testing the base station in another location onboard the vessel which is well away from the present installation location. Should the problem persist, then the S100 should either be replaced by your Raymarine dealer (if purchased within the last 30 days) or sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.

Regarding the diagram, it appears to be incorrect or ambiguous with regard to the following:

- Compass: I believe that this device actually the EV-1 CCU within your system. Not does the EV-1 CCU sense magnetic heading, roll, and pitch, but it also is the system's course computer. Should you intend to keep this diagram, it should be labeled EV-1 CCU. Additionally, the EV-1 CCU ... as well as any device having a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications interface produced by Raymarine cannot be connected to the system via a Backbone Cable as shown within the diagram. Instead such devices must be interfaced to a Spur Cable, which in turn will be interfaced to the spur (white) socket of a T-Piece, 5-Way Connector, Inline Terminator, or iTC-5.

- I believe that the item which is labeled Autopilot within your diagram is actually the ACU400 (Actuator Control Unit) and would recommend relabeling.

- Power: please verify that the SeaTalkng power switch of the ACU400 has been configured to the OFF position
