[CA11] Sea Talk 1 to Standard Horizon AIS radio - alvasurg - 04-07-20 05:21 PM

I just replaced my broken Icom radio with the top of the line Standard Horizon GX6000 with built-in AIS. There is an unconnected cable that connects to my Raymarine RC530 plus Chartplotter. How do I make the connection to the radio which has NMEA2000 or NMEA 0183 connectors. I can't find one cable that does it. Do I need to adapt to Sea Talk 2 and then to NMEA 2000?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum alvasurg,

While it is possible to interface the NMEA 0183 output cable of the RC530 to permit it to supply GPS data to the SH GX6000, it should be noted that hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series chartplotting displays have no capacity to display AIS target data. The first generation of Raymarine chartplotting products supporting such capability were Raymarine's C-Series Classic MFDs (C70, C80, C120). The SH GX6000 may also be fitted with an optional SH GPS to permit the VHF to operate independently of the vessel's other GPS data sources.

The following diagram identifies the pins of the NMEA 0183 Output Cable of the hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series displays.

If seeking to supply the SH GX6000 with GPS data, then
- the NMEA 0183 OUT+ lead (blue) of the hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series Display NMEA 0183 Output Cable will be interfaced to the NMEA 0183 IN+ (blue) lead of the SH GX6000; and
- the NMEA 0183 OUT- lead (white) of the hsb/hsb2/SL Pathfinder Series Display NMEA 0183 Output Cable will be interfaced to the NMEA 0183 IN- (green) lead of the SH GX6000.
