Seatalk Power Cable - Yachtmaster - 05-03-20 01:40 PM

The Seatalkng power cable A06049 has three wires; red, black and a bare wire. What is the bare wire for and should it be connected somewhere...?

Thanks...

Hi Yachtmaster,

The red wire is the positive conductor, the black is the negative conductor and the bare wire is the shield wire. The shield wire is there to help protect the power lead from electrical interference induction. Please connect the bare shield wire to the negative conductor.

It is important that shield wires on any power leads get connected and not be left just sitting there, especially on screens that are touch operated.

Happy boating

Kind regards
Jules
