Heading sensor needed for sidevison waypints ? - Westernsound - 05-06-20 03:19 PM

Hello all,

Looking at adding an Axiom pro rvx to my boat specifically for it's 3D and Side scan features.

Do I need to have a separate heading sensor / Compass in order to make accurate waypoints of structure shown away from the boat in say, the side scan mode ?

thanks for your time

Hi Westernsound,

Welcome to the forum,

Axiom Pro RVX with a RV -100 transducer is all you need to view 3D and sidescan images on the screen. The Axiom MFD has the capability to stop the scrolling image when you see something of interest by pressing and holding the screen on that object, and then place a waypoint on it. You can then use that waypoint to navigate to that exact point. In some installations where metallic objects may interfere with a consistent GPS signal being received an additional passive GPS antenna (GA150 A80288) which will plug directly into the Axiom Pro's port.

Happy boating

Kind regards
Jules
