When I have my radar on, my GPS screen remains fixed on the original area I started from. My boat icon will literally move up and off the screen rather than being centered. When I put my radar off, my GPS screen returns to normal.

They behavior which you have described sounds like the MFD's True Motion mode. It is recommended that you change the Chart application's Motion Mode (PRESENTATION->CHART MODE & ORIENTATION->MOTION MODE) to Relative Motion (RM).
