SPX-5 compass fault - Nonsuch260 - 07-19-16 04:24 PM

I have purchased a sailboat with an SPX-5 autopilot and p70 multifunction. I get a compass fault advisory upon powering up. I was able to find a new flux gate compass and installed it. I am still getting the same fault advisory. What now? Thank you very much.

Such messages may be displayed when the system is booting up after having been powered off. However, should the message continue to be displayed after the system has completed initialization, then it may be indicative of a failure within the fluxgate compass or within the autopilot course computer itself. The problem may be fault isolated by testing the fluxgate compass per information within the FAQ found here. Should the fluxgate compass test not indicate failure within the fluxgate compass, then the autopilot course computer would be deemed to have suffered a failure necessitating that it be sent to Raymarine’s Product Repair Center to be bench checked / serviced.
