hi there i would like to know if i can connect my ray240 to my RS120 gps without the nmea connection from chartplotter?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum echow,

Should one have the NMEA 0183 version of the Raystar 120 GPS Sensor, then it's NMEA 0183 output may indeed be parallel to provide GPS data to the Raymarine MFD and to the VHF radio. This method of installation is commonly used within systems where concept of operations includes use of the VHF radio while the system's other marine electronics (except for the GPS sensor) have been switched OFF.

sorry i have the raystar125 not 120 and i want to know if i cant directly connect to ray240 vhf without a mfd

The Raystar 125 GPS Sensor is designed to support 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 or SeaTalk communications protocols, but not both simultaneously. Should you desire that the MFD (make/model unspecified) and VHF radio both receive GPS data and that GPS data be available to the VHF radio when the MFD is switched OFF, then it is recommended that the Raystar 125 GPS Sensor be powered from a switched 12VDC power circuit and that the NMEA 0183 output of the Raystar 125 GPS sensor then be paralleled to provide GPS data to both the MFD and to the VHF radio ... see example below:
