Need advice for Grand Banks 32 Classic electronics - lccomo - 07-21-16 05:52 PM

I want to upgrade the electronics for my GB32 - to include radar, chartplotter, sonar, and want it to connect to my iPad (Macbook Pro) via Wi-Fi.

I have a Standard Horizon GX2150W which has a 4800 or 38400 NMEA baud rate selection, for plotters with 1 NMEA port (for AIS target display).

I would like to be able to mount the chartplotter on the flying bridge or in the lower station (only want to purchase one display). I like the idea of the Quantum Wi-Fi so as to reduce wiring.

I am removing the forward seacock for the toilet and am considering mounting a transducer in its place (am hoping for some forward looking sonar).

I currently have two older fish finders but the transducers are on the transom - 32 feet away from hitting something... so having some forward information would be nice.

The boat will be used on the Great Loop... any advice is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lance

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Lance,

Raymarine's current line of MFDs included the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs. To view a FAQ addressing the differences between these MFDs, please click here. Please note that it is not possible to remotely monitor or remotely control a Raymarine a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD via a PC or Apple computer. However, it is possible to remotely view/control a Wi-Fi equipped a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD via an Android or Apple iOS based smartphone or tablet using the RayRemote or RayControl Raymarine Mobile apps respectively.

The aforementioned MFDs are all compatible with Raymarine's Quantum radomes when operating with the latest available Raymarine product software updates. At this time, Raymarine does not offer forward looking sonar products. Raymarine currently offers traditional 50/200kHZ, CHIRP (conical) sonar, DownVision, and SideVision sonar products.
