Sirius 150 Weather receiver, GPS & Antenna - Lazybones - 08-24-16 04:02 PM We are looking to acquire and integrate a Sirius 150 weather receiver. Q1. The documentation says a GPS is required. If I am providing GPS to the e165 MFD via NMEA 0183, will that satisfy the requirement for the Sirius 150 receiver? Q2. The documentation refers to a type SRA-40 antenna for the receiver. Will any SRA-40 compatible antenna work? When looking at specifications for the SRA-40, the specs only mention Sirius XM and I am not sure if that also includes weather in addition to the radio? Q3. Can you recommend antenna and cable to handle a 50ft length? Thanks. If I am providing GPS to the e165 MFD via NMEA 0183, will that satisfy the requirement for the Sirius 150 receiver? A1. Essentially, this requirement means that the system to which the SR150 (or SR6, SR100, or SR50) has been interfaced to must know the vessel's present position in order use several of the Weather application's features (ex. Find Ship, Weather Report At Ship, Watchbox Alerts (radius setting), etc.). Should your e165 MFD be receiving GPS data from any supported interface (Ethernet (from another a/c/e/eS-Series MFD, NMEA 0183, SeaTalkng/NMEA 2000, SeaTalk) then it will have satisfied this requirement. Q2. The documentation refers to a type SRA-40 antenna for the receiver. Will any SRA-40 compatible antenna work? When looking at specifications for the SRA-40, the specs only mention Sirius XM and I am not sure if that also includes weather in addition to the radio? A2. The SR150 is designed to be used with Shakespeare's SRA-40 antenna. Accordingly, the SRA-40 along with a 25' antenna cable is supplied within the box. This single antenna will support both the SiriusXM Satellite Weather and SiriusXM Satellite Radio features of the SR150. According to , the following optional accessories are available for these antennas: SRS-1 DC Voltage Splitter for antenna cables up to 50’ SRS-2 DC Voltage Splitter for antenna cables over 50’ SRC-35 35’ RG-58 cable kit with connectors SRC-50 50’ RG-58 cable kit with connectors SRC-90 90’ RG-8X cable kit with connectors SRC-135 135’ RG-8X cable kit with connectors and inline amplifier SM-30 Low-Profile Surface Mounting Kit for locations without access under the antenna for attaching nuts and bolts. The length of the cable run from the antenna to the satellite radio receiver can be extended by using one of the optional cable kits listed above. Note: These cables replace the 25’ cable supplied with the antenna, and must be used as supplied. They cannot be lengthened, shortened, or connected together as extensions. Q3. Can you recommend antenna and cable to handle a 50ft length? A3.
