Matching Transducer to Depth Display? - OldBoat - 08-26-16 08:27 PM

Apelco XVA-70 has died. Any Depth Displays (transceiver) compatible with my present thru-hull transducer ?

Installed transducer Raymarine/Apelco part # M78811, 200kHz, unknown cone angle.
Thur-hull sensor includes speed paddle wheel and temperature which I do not use.

Also would need new signal cable between transducer and display as Apelco cable is damaged. M78811 depth wiring is three wire; transducer in & out and a shield or ground.

An old (cheap) Humminbird has been connected to the M78811. That unit only provides correct depth when boat is totally dead in the water. Time for a better transceiver to transducer match . . . and for now no interest in replacing the transducer.

Recommendation of compatible Raymarine Display or full M78811 specifications are requested.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum OldBoat,

Transducers which would have been compatible with the Apelco XVA-70 would not be compatible with fishfinding products produce by Raymarine for at least the last 13 years. Accordingly, should the fishfinder have failed and need to be replaced with new equipment, then it would be additionally be necessary to replace the transducer.
