Rudder reference for EV200 - syama7148 - 09-27-16 09:57 AM

I recently purchased an EV200 power autopilot package and it comes with a rudder reference transformer geared for inboard engines. A rudder reference is recommended for EV200, but is it required? My previous SPX10 worked okay without it. If I need to install a rudder reference, will the M81188 work on the EV200 or is there an adapter plate for outbooard engines to mount the rudder reference that came with the EV200?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum syama7148,

Maximum performance of an autopilot will generally be achieved in autopilot systems which have included a rudder reference transducer. Raymarine's M81188 Linear Rudder Reference Transducer (retired) as well as the M81105 Rotary Rudder Reference Transducer are both compatible with the Evolution autopilot ACUs. Accordingly, should your M81188 Linear Rudder Reference Transducer be operational, then it may be used with an Evolution autopilot ACU. Should the M81188 Linear Rudder Reference Transducer not be operational and the application call for linear rudder reference transducer, then the SeaStar Smartstick (Raymarine version) would be recommended.

Thanks Chuck. The M81188 that I have is brand new so I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes.
