32gb Micro sd, sandisk ultra vs extreme - Lazybones - 11-20-16 06:04 PM

The documentation for the eS127/lighthouse software recommends a brand name (up to 32GB) micro sd card for storing and backup.

Sandisk makes both a 32GB Micro SD Ultra Plus and a 32GB Micro SD Extreme Plus.

The Extreme Plus is evidently faster and of course more expensive. Can the MFD benefit from the higher speed micro sd Extreme Plus, or does it not matter given the technology and speeds with which the MFD reads and writes?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Lazybones,

Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Using a Class 10 and UHS (Ultra High Speed) Class 1 (U-1) rated microSD card ensures high-performance recording for video and chart file access. As both the SanDisk 32GB Micro SD Ultra Plus and a 32GB Micro SD Extreme Plus meet this requirement, any additional gains achieved by the faster access time of the 32GB Micro SD Extreme Plus are likely to be so minimal as to not be detectable by the user.
