I received and installed the new cable and the set-up menu now shows the B164 as a choice. The cable only has 6 pins in the 9 pin connector so it connected with no modification. I can't believe someone would jury-rig a cable when doing the original install.

However, I am still not sure that everything is working ok. When I go into set-up and search for external transducers it still doesn't find anything. Should it display the B164 and its serial number?

DFMott,

The search for external transducers should not be used for fishfinder transducers. The correct method of fishfinder transducer selection is via the options within the MFD's Fishfinder application.

That's fine, but it doesn't seem to say that anywhere in the manual.

It just says -

Transducers Set-up - Displays a list of connected transducers which
you can select and calibrate.

I assumed it should find my B164 which is an external transducer connected to the system.

Your welcome. While the documentation may not explicitly call out that the feature which you have referenced does not apply to fishfinder transducer, all depth, temperature, and speed offsets associated with a Fishfinder transducer are designed to be configured via the transducer settings feature of the Fishfinder application pages/panes.
