Flush mounting footprint of new product is smaller than presently installed product

It is not uncommon for the footprint of a new marine electronics product to differ from that of the product being replaced. While Raymarine offers mounting adapter kits for 9" and 12" c/e-Series MFDs to replace a C/E-Series Classic MFD or a C/E-Series Widescreen MFD, Raymarine has not offered mounting adapter kits for other products. When electronics are replaced, the most common methods of addressing the difference between the new product's footprint and the current/previous product's footprint:
- purchasing a product which exceeds the size of the [censored] used to mount the product which will be replaced
- covering the helm mounting surface with a layer of aluminum, Starboard, plexiglass, wood, fiberglass panel, etc.
- if pod mounted, purchasing a new pod designed to accommodate the new product
- if the surface is fiberglass, re-glassing the helm

It should additionally be noted that many Certified Raymarine Installers offer or can assist in arranging services to re-surface electronics mounting surfaces or to fabricate custom helm plates which will in turn accommodate the vessel's electronics, gauges, etc..
