Installation of EV-1, ACU-200 - Utahsailor - 03-08-17 02:00 PM

New Evolution autopilot system was installed in St Augustine FL by a certified Raymarine installed. I just installed a new SR150 Sirius weather receiver and discovered that the ACU-200 was not grounded. We have sailed from St Augustine to Lucaya in the Bahamas and the autopilot has performed very well. How serious a problem is this? Can we finish our Bahamas cruise and repair when we return to US? Thanks

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Utahsailor,

Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Should you be detecting RF noise being emitted from the ACU-200 (heard is RF noise within your VHF radio or marine stereo system), then it would be recommended that the ACU-200's ground terminal be connected to bonding cable to eliminate the RF noise. Otherwise the connection to between the ACU-200 and the vessel's bonding cable may be made when it is convenient to do so.
