Raystar 125 to NMEA 2000 - TravisPWoodard - 04-04-17 09:20 AM Can I connect my Raystar 125 to my existing NMEA 2k network to get GPS data to my E120? RE: Raystar 125 to NMEA 2000 - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 04-04-17 11:00 AM Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Travis, As the Raystar 125 GPS Sensor is designed to support either SeaTalk (not SeaTalkng) or NMEA 0183 communications depending on the method of installation, it would need to be adapted (ex. Actisense NGW-1-ISO, etc.) to be interfaced to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. It is further recommended that the E-Series Classic MFD be updated with the E-Series Classic MFD v5.69 software update when being interfaced to a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone. RE: Raystar 125 to NMEA 2000 - TravisPWoodard - 04-04-17 04:03 PM Thanks for the feedback. I'm betting it would be cheaper to buy a new NEMA 2000 compliant GPS than buying the adapter. RE: Raystar 125 to NMEA 2000 - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 04-05-17 08:46 AM Travis, I would estimate that the cost of a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 GPS Sensor (ex. Raystar 150 GPS Sensor, etc.) will be within $100 - $200 of the cost of adapting the Raystar 125 GPS Sensor (via a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter). Things to consider when making the decision would include, but not necessarily be limited to: - cost, - installation time associated with mounting a new GPS sensor and chasing its cable, - enhanced GPS performance associated with technological improvements in GPS sensor design since the Raystar 125 GPS Sensor was introduced (2005). |
