p70R Rutter Limit Setting Issues - chartertom - 04-13-17 02:55 PM

This issue relates to setting port and starboard rudder limits with an autopilot p70R, e125 multi-function display, and rudder position sensor. Repeated attempts to set limits using the dockside wizard results in the p70R display showing motor hard over to port and starboard prior to the motor actually being turned hard over. There normally is approximately one rotation of the helm left after the p70R indicates hard over. It should be noted the motor center position is correctly indicated by the p70R and compass linearization remains to be performed. Is the p70R supposed to display the motor hard over prior to actually being hard over for safety purposes or is there another set-up step required?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Tom,

Raymarine autopilots are designed to limit rudder travel to +/- 30 degrees. Should your vessel's steering system support greater rudder angles, then steer to rudder angles greater than +/- 30 degrees may only be achieved when the autopilot is OFF or in Standby mode.
