Rudder Reference Reversed - dhiggins286 - 05-16-17 09:09 AM

After installing the v19 update my rudder indicator is reversed. This happens every time I do an update. In the past I followed the instructions to reverse the reading. The new v19 instruction explains how to correct this. However, when following the directions, when you get to the final step the option to reverse the reading isn't there. So, can I just switch the red and green wires from the reference unit so I won't have to deal with this every time I do an update?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum dhiggins286,

Beginning several a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software updates ago, the a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software update zip files were expanded to include .iso files for Raymarine products which were designed to be updated via an a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFDs. This action was taken to make it easier for customers to maintain their Raymarine products with the latest software and to eliminate the need perform individual product software downloads for the other products within the system.
Among the included software update files were the .iso files for the Evolution autopilots. The MFD's software update dialogs are designed to provide information concerning whether software updates are available system's other devices and provide choices regarding whether the software within these devices will be updated.

The LightHouse II R17 a/c/e/eS/gS-Series MFD software download zip file included new software update iso files for each of the Evolution autopilot components. After updating the software within the autopilot's components, the autopilot should have been commanded to be reset per the FAQ found here. Among other things, this action would have necessitated performing the Dockside Wizard again, which would have addressed the subject issue. Like the LightHouse II R17 software update zip file, the LightHouse II R19 software update zip file also contained a new software update .iso files to update software within one of the Evolution autopilot's components (in this case, the ACU).

As with the Evolution autopilot software update included within the LightHouse II R17 software zip file, that which has been included within the LightHouse II R19 software update zip file may require that the Evolution autopilot be reset. Doing so and then performing the Dockside Wizard should address the reported issue. Alternatively, swapping the ACU Rudder terminals to with the transducer's red and green leads have been connected will similarly correct the rudder angle issue reported.
