Is the status in that thread still current, or has the EV1 update 2.18 addressed the issue?

Thanks for the reminder. The referenced FAQ has been updated accordingly to specify:
This issue may be corrected by upgrading the Evolution autopilot components with the latest available Evolution autopilot software update (at the time of this response: EV software was v2.18; ACU software was v2.23; p70/p70S & p70R/p70RS software was v3.07).
