Question about Axiom 9 - Delta Fishing Charters - 08-13-17 06:59 PM Hello, I have an area that I fish frequently... it's a large flat area that is about 5ft deep for about a mile. I have ordered 2 Axiom 9's and am waiting for local installer to fit me into their schedule. My question is: how far to the side will I be able to see in 3D mode or side scan mode in shallow (5ft) water. Thank you Steve RE: Question about Axiom 9 - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 08-21-17 12:13 PM Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Steve, The ability of the SideVision to produce an image is largely dependent upon the hardness of the object and how high it rises above the bottom. As an example, dock pilings/posts or shoreline breakwater may be imaged at distances over 100' should the water be reasonably deep where the object enters the water. As with any sonar, as experience is gained with the SideVision imaging, so will one's ability to interpret the imaging. SideVision and DownVision imaging have the greatest benefit in locating and identifying structure. Where there is structure, fish may frequently be located. |
