I am looking at ordering an Axiom 9 (no transducer) to work with an Axiom 12 (with a transducer and Navionics). I noticed that the Axiom 9 comes with/without LNC - both for the same price. Why would I not get the Axiom 9 with the LNC and have alternate charting capability?

The LightHouse NOAA US Vector Charts essentially cost Raymarine very little to produce, as NOAA does not charge royalties for these charts. Accordingly, were the the NOAA US Vector Chart for the East Coast or West Coast to be purchased separately, the purchase price from the LightHouse Charts Store would be minimal (approximately $10 per each of these two regions). Raymarine has essentially chosen not to charge for the LightHouse Chart card included with the bundle, and as such one may view it as bonus to be used as an alternate cartography source for the system. Raymarine's MFDs running LightHouse II and LightHouse 3 software also have the ability to display multiple types of cartography simultaneously.
