(DG) EV1 wheelpilot problem - sharkwatcher - 04-29-18 08:03 AM I have an EV 1 wheelpilot that has recently started "sticking". It will make a wheel adjustment of 45 degree or so, stick and make a clicking sound like it is only partially engaged. If I bump it slightly, it will resume movement. The unit is still under warranty, is the drive motor "bad" or is the wheel ring worn? RE: (DG) EV1 wheelpilot problem - Derek - Raymarine - Moderator - 04-30-18 09:29 AM Hi sharkwatcher Thank you for your enquiry below It sounds like the belt is slipping inside the drive unit, sometimes salt or other wind blown debris can build up inside the drive and washing it though gently with warm clean fresh water can often help clear this build up. Try adjusting the belt tension as described in the handbook. Otherwise the drive will need to be opened - separate the rotating ring from the stationary ring and check for other causes of the noise, the drive may need to be returned to the local Raymarine Agent or to one of our main service centres. regards |
