[CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Skagit22 - 12-05-18 12:45 PM Sonar functionality -I am replacing.... a legacy 2007 A65 MFD E33020-0670839 -I have... the .. a 2007 Airmar B744 50/200kHz through hull transducer -I purchased.... an Axiom 7 RV unit. E70365-03-NAG with the RV-100 transducer -I would like....the added functionality of DV -I would like....to retain 50/200kHz functionality 1) how can i gain this functionality? Can I add a CP-100 for DV and possibly an additional Chirp channel? 2) how would I network this and which cables do I need? 3) are any functionalities disabled by this networking? Thank you Doug RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 12-05-18 02:04 PM Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Doug, Q1) how can i gain this functionality? Can I add a CP-100 for DV and possibly an additional Chirp channel? A1) Should an Axiom 7 RV MFD have been purchased, then Y-Cable would be installed to permit both a RV-100 transducer and the 50kHz/200kHz transducer which had been directly mated to the DSM25 to instead be mated to the Axiom RV MFD. With this combination alone, the system would support RealVision 3D, SideVision, DownVision, 200kHz, and 50kHz sonar imaging, including simultaneously supporting these types of sonar imaging up to the number of application panes supported by the MFD. Should low power high frequency CHIRP conical sonar imaging also be desired, then the MFD may indeed be interfaced to a CP100 CHIRP/DownVision Sounder Module which in turn has been interfaced to a CPT-S transducer. When so interfaced, the Axiom 7 RV MFD would support RealVision 3D, SideVision, DownVision, 200kHz, 50kHz, and low power high frequency CHIRP conical sonar imaging, including simultaneously supporting these types of sonar imaging up to the number of application panes supported by the MFD. Q2) how would I network this and which cables do I need? A2) The Axiom 7 RV MFD would be interfaced to the CP100 via an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RayNet (F) Cable. Q3) are any functionalities disabled by this networking? A3) Negative. RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Skagit22 - 12-06-18 02:59 PM Chuck, your support exceeds all expectations...really! You do “rock†First....your clarification helped me in understanding the parameters of the RV model Second. I have another set of question After reviewing my real needs I really believe I do not need the RV 3D. I am interested in targeting fish in the Pacific NW and 3D bottom is much less important. I would “like†both the 50/200kHz and as practical the Chirp conical/Chirp DV. Assuming I do exchange the RV for a DV model of the Axiom 7 Assuming I use a transom mount CP transducer for Chirp conical and DV Q1) I assume I could use a CP-370 for the 50/200kHz sonar? Q2) Can I hook up the legacy Airmar B744 to work with the CP-370 for 50/200kHz Q3) Can I hook up and utilize simultaneously the Chirp/DV and the CP-370 50/200kHz sonar? Q4). The “hows†of doing the networking. Really appreciate the help! Doug RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 12-06-18 04:20 PM Doug, Q1) I assume I could use a CP-370 for the 50/200kHz sonar? A1) You could indeed. It is has been the experience of some customers that depth performance of 50kHz/200kHz transducers is often better when using a CP370 instead of the Axiom DV or Axiom RV MFD's internal 50kHz/200kHz processing circuitry, particularly in regions featuring sharp thermoclines such as are commonly encountered on the Pacific coast of the US. Q2) Can I hook up the legacy Airmar B744 to work with the CP-370 for 50/200kHz A2) Yes. Q3) Can I hook up and utilize simultaneously the Chirp/DV and the CP-370 50/200kHz sonar? A3) Yes. Q4). The “hows†of doing the networking. A4) The method of interfacing the CP370 to an Axiom DV MFD are identical to those previously stated for interfacing a CP100 to an Axiom RV MFD. If installing an Axiom DV MFD and considering a transom mounted transducer for the Axiom DV MFD, it would be recommended that a CPT-100 be purchased rather than a CPT-S transducer. This recommendation is based on the ability to get low power high frequency CHIRP conical sonar from both transducers, while additionally getting DownVision sonar imaging from the CPT-100. RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Skagit22 - 12-06-18 10:38 PM Chuck, a clarification please...based on wavering in my decisions If..... I were to stay with the Axiom 7 RV do I use cable #A80491 25-pin/25-pin/7-pin to interconnect/network the RV-100 to the 2007 B744V (to DSM25) to the Axiom 7 transducer port? Thank you for indulging the “what if†exercises Sincerely Doug RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 12-07-18 08:34 AM Doug, Indeed, the A80491 Y-Cable would be used to mate both the RV-100 transducer and your currently installed B744V transducer to the Axiom RV MFD's Transducer socket. RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Skagit22 - 12-09-18 06:32 PM Chuck, i am proceeding with the RV-100 transducer on the Axiom 7 RV model and adding in (y-cable) the B744V. A question on powering the network. I plan to use the “Network†plug to connect a Converter to acquire a NMEA 0183 output for a VHF radio....and in the future.... allow for adding an AIS 650 and CP-370 I plan to use the “Power NMEA 2000†plug to connect to a small NMEA network where I have only an input from a Suzuki DF250 and output to a C-10 multifunction gauge. The small NMEA 2000 network has 12v power applied. Do i need to add 12v power to the “Network†side of the wiring...or will the “Network†acquire power from the NMEA 2000 side? Thanks Doug RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 12-10-18 10:24 AM Doug, Q1. I plan to use the “Network†plug to connect a Converter to acquire a NMEA 0183 output for a VHF radio....and in the future.... allow for adding an AIS 650 and CP-370 A1. The AIS650 and CP370 utilize different types of communications from one another. As you have suggested, the AIS650 will be interfaced to the system's powered and properly terminated SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone which in this case features an E70196 VHF NMEA 0183 to STng Converter Kit. Please note that the AIS650 is not designed to be powered by the SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 backbone, but instead will be powered via the Power/NMEA 0183/Silent Mode Cable included within the AIS650's package. The CP370 does not feature a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 communications interface. The CP370 features an Ethernet communications interface, permitting it to be interfaced to the MFD's Ethernet communications interface or to a HS5 RayNet Network Switch. Like the AIS650, the CP370 is not designed to be powered via its communications interface. Instead, it is designed to be powered via the Power Cable included within the CP370's package. Q2. I plan to use the “Power NMEA 2000†plug to connect to a small NMEA network where I have only an input from a Suzuki DF250 and output to a C-10 multifunction gauge. The small NMEA 2000 network has 12v power applied. Do i need to add 12v power to the “Network†side of the wiring...or will the “Network†acquire power from the NMEA 2000 side? A2. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing the supported means for interfacing engines to Raymarine products. As I understand it, the C-10 acts to some degree as an engine gateway for Suzuki engines. As a single backbone will be installed to interface the C-10, engine, and marine electronics, only one power insertion spur should be installed. RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Skagit22 - 12-10-18 01:52 PM Very helpful Chuck. The reference material and other Forum posts convince me NOT to try to interface the 2018 Suzuki DF250 to the MFD. It seems the ECI-100 has real issues with Suzuki engines. I will only rely on the C-10 display Thank you RE: [CA11] Axiom 7 RV added functionality - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 12-10-18 02:41 PM Doug, You're welcome. The ECI-100 is indeed not presently designed to support Suzuki engine systems. |
