[CA11] Autohelm ST7000 connection to Es98 - Rpalladino - 12-29-18 11:51 AM

I currently have an existing autohelm st7000 utilizing a type300 course computer. I recently purchased 2 raymarine Es98 MFD’s. One will be lower helm and the other on flybridge. Please correct me if I am wrong but I undetthat I can connect the st7000 through NMEA 1083. Has anyone performed this type of install or are they using this same type of equipment configuration? If so what is the best way to accomplish this integration. Any advice and comment is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Rpalladino,

While it is certainly possible to do as you have suggested (i.e. interface the NMEA 0183 interface of one of the MFD's to the ST7000 autopilot control head or to the autopilot course computer, it is considered to be a best practice to install a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng Converter for such purposes. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. Utilizing the latter method would also facilitate use of the LightHouse II Autopilot Controls feature.
