[CA11] connecting ST 1000 - jerry111 - 01-10-19 08:59 AM

Can I connect ST1000 directly to the battery bypassing the the panel? I have only had the boat (alberg 22) for one season and the wiring is a mess, it will take me a while to figure it out.
If yes I would need a fuse in line, correct? Tnx in advance, Jerry

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Jerry,

Proper installation of marine electronics includes protecting the circuits which supply them with power. In the case of the ST1000, it is recommended that the circuit supplying it with power be protected wtih a 12A fuse of 10A thermal breaker.

Jerry,

Q. so I assume its ok to hook up the tiller directly to the battery.
A. You may do so only if you include the previously specified circuit protection (i.e. fuse or breaker).
