[CA11] Unexpected restarts - jefti - 05-06-19 12:04 PM Hi guys, New to these forums, new user of Raymarine. I am quite happy with the products so far but do have some points I’d like to discuss. Setup wise I’m using an Axiom 9 RV with the RMK-10 and a Quantum 2 radar. For a heading sensor I use a Lowrance Point-1 and I receive AIS through a Standard Horizon GX6000. For starters I had some unexpected restarts. I believe I read here somewhere the Axioms will log events like this. What files should I pull from the unit and where will I be able to locate these in order to diagnose? That’s all for now. I really like my Axion 9, and would recommend anyone looking for a non pro display to also purchase the RMK-10. The controls are so much more intuitive with it. Thanks in advance. RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-07-19 04:01 PM Welcome to the Raymarine Forum jefti, In the event of uncommanded system and applications reboots, the MFD will typically generate error logs. These logs may be saved to a microSD memory card for analysis by Raymarine's engineering team. However, before sending in logs, it would be recommended that system's logs be erased (HOME->SETTINGS->NETWORK->DIAGNOSTICS->ERASE LOGS), that the MFD's software be update with LightHouse 3 v3.9.46, that a Factory Reset be commanded to the MFD (HOME->SETTINGS->THIS DISPLAY->FACTORY RESET), and that the problem be duplicated. Should the problem be duplicated, then the following would be recommended: - a system diagram (hand drawn will generally suffice) identifying the makes and models of each of the marine electronics devices within the system (including computers / tablets running navigational planning / chartplotting applications) may be be requested to support an investigation. The diagram should additionally identify how these devices have been interfaced to one another. - the system's Ethernet and SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 device data (HOME->SET-UP->NETWORK->DIAGNOSTICS->PRODUCT INFO->SAVE DATA) - the MFD's logs (HOME->SET-UP->NETWORK->DIAGNOSTICS->SAVE LOGS) - the MFD's crash logs (HOME->SET-UP->NETWORK->DIAGNOSTICS->SAVE MFDS CRASH LOGS) - the MFD's system logs (HOME->SET-UP->NETWORK->DIAGNOSTICS->SAVE SYSTEM LOGS) Upon receiving this data, a problem report will be logged to investigate the problem using received data. RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - jefti - 05-19-19 05:26 AM First set of uploads: RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - jefti - 05-19-19 05:44 AM Second set of uploads. Are you missing anything? The restarts are happening more than once every trip. It seems to be invoked mainly by the pop-up menu when I press the "enter" button of my RMK-10. Sometimes it happens when I then press chart info, sometimes it happens when I switch on the AIS or RADAR data box. RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-20-19 01:16 PM jefti, Thanks for the requested data. My initial request had called for erasing the logs (HOME->SETTINGS->NETWORK->DIAGNOSTICS->ERASE LOGS), factory reset, and then attempting to duplicate the problem again. While many of these logs appear to have been generated prior to this weekend, they will be retained in case needed. A problem report will be logged accordingly to investigate this problem to seek a possible solution for the reported issue. Interestingly, this network is made up of devices from multiple manufacturers, and does not appear to feature any more than one device from any one manufacturer. Finally, a Raymarine's engineering team reported early today that a Power ON Reset is required following the LightHouse 3 v3.9.46 software update. The procedure for performing the Power On Reset may be found within the Performing a Power On Reset - Axiom section of Chapter 20.3: Power up troubleshooting of the LightHouse 3.9 Advanced Operation Instructions. It would accordingly be recommended that this action be taken and that should the problem manifest itself again, that the latest resulting MFDs_crash_log....zip file be posted to this thread. RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - jefti - 05-26-19 03:13 AM Hi Chuck, Thanks for the reply. I am trying to perform the POwer On Reset as per manual, but am not succeeding. I have restarted the MFD and am swiping from right to left frantically within 60 seconds, but nothing happens. Am I missing something? RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-28-19 10:05 AM jefti, Please click here to view a FAQ addressing how to perform a power on factory reset to Raymarine MFDs. Please note that the procedure which the FAQ specifies for Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs differs from that which is presently found within the product documentation for these MFDs. RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - OBarrow - 05-28-19 11:47 AM Hi Chuck, I experienced the same issue as Jefti with random unexpected restarts after updating to 3.4.96, when I was pressing for example Charts or Engines pages. This happened on all MFDs. Without immediate solution, I reverted back to 3.7.70 and everything was working fine again. However I didn’t proceed to the Power ON Reset as explained in this post and I would like to try again to update. As I have 5 MFDs Axiom Pro in a full Raymarine configuration, should I do the Power ON Reset after the update, only on the master MFD or on all MFDs one after each other? Thanks in advance for your feedback. Olivier RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-28-19 01:59 PM Olivier, It is recommended that the Power ON Rest be performed to each MFD within the system which is running LightHouse 3 v3.9.46 software should such odd behaviors be encountered. RE: [CA11] Unexpected restarts - MSjack - 05-29-19 10:54 AM Chuck - Performed the power on reset on both my Axiom and eS127 and it appears to have resolved my issues as well. It might just be my imagination but both units seem to be more responsive since the power on reset, could this be a true result of the reset? |
