[DG11] Autopilot Controllers suitable for ST2000+ tiller pilot - [email protected] - 05-07-19 06:53 AM Hi Tom, In a different thread, Chuck advised that a ST6002 controller would be suitable for controlling and monitoring an ST2000+ tiller pilot. I have since found that the reasonably priced St6002 I was considering buying is no longer available. Could you please advise what other older/cheaper Controller/Displays would be suitable for running an ST2000+ with full Track and wind control inputs and full monitoring, control and alarm functions available? Thanks Dave RE: [DG11] Autopilot Controllers suitable for ST2000+ tiller pilot - Derek - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-09-19 03:56 AM Hi Dave, Thanks for the enquiry, The fixed SeaTalk controllers could all be used, the ST6000/ ST6001/ ST6002, or even the ST7000/ ST7001/ ST7002. It is also possible to use the wireless remotes, the S100 or Smartcontroller too. Please be aware that none of the other controllers, ST3000/ ST4000/ ST5000 can be used since these are all autopilot controller AND computer and so will conflict with the ST2000. Regards Derek RE: [DG11] Autopilot Controllers suitable for ST2000+ tiller pilot - [email protected] - 05-09-19 07:37 PM Hi Derek, Thanks for the reply. My ST2000+ is not connected to a seatalk bus or any other instruments. I use NMEA to get data to it via an A70D MFD (see the latest post in “CA11] ST60+, seatalk1, seatalk NG, ray55e, A70D and ST2000+†for details). I use a third party fluxgate compass as the heading source for the system, so in effect the tillerpilot is isolated from the seatalk bus to prevent doubling up on the heading data sources. However, the tillerpilot still gets wind and nav data via NMEA from the MFD. Q1. Is it fair to assume that I can cut the wire on the S100 (or other seatalk controller cable) and connect it directly to the seatalk pins on the ST2000+? Q2. With this arrangement, will the track and wind modes be fully functional using the S100 (or other pilot controller)? Q3. Will the controllers that you mention provide pilot status, warning and alarm functions? Cheers Dave RE: [DG11] Autopilot Controllers suitable for ST2000+ tiller pilot - Derek - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-10-19 06:47 AM HI Dave, SeaTalk is very simple and so cutting the plugs off the end of the SeaTalk cable and joining the wires is not a problem. With the controller connected direct to the ST2000+ you can obtain control of the autopilot, note that the track and wind modes will require the fixed style control units to function. They will also provide, pilot status, alarms and warnings messages. I have seeen an ST7u0 pilot controller at a good price. I have a spare Seatalk NG to Seatalk Converter that’s I could use to connect between the ST2000+ and an ST70 contraoller. Q1. Would this be as workable solution? Q2. What other pilot controllers would I be able to use with this type of connection set up? Cheers Dave RE: [DG11] Autopilot Controllers suitable for ST2000+ tiller pilot - Derek - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-13-19 10:41 AM Hi Dave, The ST70 control head operates on STng or in SeaTalk, it cannot be used on both at the same time, so the converter cable simple enables you to plug the ST70 into SeaTalk, no need to use the SEaTalk to STng converter E22158. note the St70 control head cannot be used to calibrate the ST2000 at all. My reply of the 9th May covered the alternatives, ST6000/ ST6001/ ST6002, or even the ST7000/ ST7001/ ST7002 Regards Derek RE: [DG11] Autopilot Controllers suitable for ST2000+ tiller pilot - [email protected] - 05-18-19 04:51 AM Thanks Derek RE: [DG11] Autopilot Controllers suitable for ST2000+ tiller pilot - Derek - Raymarine - Moderator - 05-20-19 11:42 AM HI Dave, You're welcome Thanks Derek |
