[CA11] S1 autopilot circuit board has capacitor installed in reverse - DougL - 06-22-19 05:27 PM

I am getting erratic fluxgate heading information with an S1 autopilot similar to that described in Raymarine technical note TU228 which identifies a capacitor installed in reverse at manufacture. The pictures in TU228 are fairly grainy and it is difficult to make out the orientation of the capacitor but it does appear that mine is installed in reverse. Has anyone had success having a local electronic shop sweat this capacitor off and reinstall it?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Doug,

Unfortunately, Raymarine's Product Repair Center can no longer service S1/S2/S3/S1G/S2G/S3G autopilot course computers. While Raymarine's Product Repair Center can no longer service these autopilot course computers, Seawire Marine ((305) 489-1600) may be able to assist you with repairs to this legacy autopilot course computer. If not, then it would be necessary to seek a replacement from the second hand market or replace the autopilot with a currently manufactured autopilot.
