Self-Leveling for Quantum Radar? - jonvidar - 05-22-16 08:53 PM

Just wondering what the recommendation is for mounting a Quantum radar on a sailboat mast. Would you recommend a fixed or self-leveling mount?

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum jonvidar,

While Raymarine has made no specific recommendations on this subject, it seems obvious that heel would degrade radar performance to some degree. When heeling and using a self-leveling radar mount, one may expect increased target signal strength when compared to the signal strength sensed with a fixed radar mount. An interesting article on this subject may be found here.
