[CA11] Replacing ST 70 autopilot head - dr john - 07-21-19 05:09 PM The current unit works well but a progressing black stain on display is starting to obscure info. If I replace the head with a used unit or even new unit will it need recalibration? Thank you for your help. RE: [CA11] Replacing ST 70 autopilot head - dr john - 10-12-19 08:38 AM SPX smartpilot system (SPX10. SPX 30, SPX solenoid). I have a used unit off another boat. Will this be more than just swapping the units? Thank you Chuck. RE: [CA11] Replacing ST 70 autopilot head - Chuck - Raymarine - Moderator - 10-14-19 10:05 AM dr john, The p70S and p70RS autopilot control heads are recommended for use as replacements for autopilot control heads which had been designed for use with SPX autopilot course computers. Sea trial and dockside calibration data is not stored within the autopilot control heads. This information is instead stored within the memory of the system's autopilot course computer. Accordingly, should a replacement control head be obtained (either an operational second hand ST70 autopilot control head or a p70S/p70RS autopilot control head), then they should essentially be plug and play.
