"Not enough storage space" reported when updating an Axiom MFD

Unlike the Axiom Pro and Axiom XL MFDs, Axiom MFDs are dependent upon the presence of a microSD card having at least 2 GB of free memory to be present within the Axiom MFD's memory card reader or within a remote memory reader which has been connected to each Axiom MFD which will be updated. Should this requirement not be met, then the reported message may be displayed. This requirement applies equally to Axiom MFDs which will be updated via WiFi, as well as those Axiom MFDs which will be remotely updated via a networked Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFD.

Please additionally note that this same message may be displayed if a microSD memory card having been formatted with an exFAT file system is used. MicroSD memory cards having an exFAT file system are not compatible with Raymarine MFDs. Accordingly, if a microSD memory card having an exFAT file system is inserted into the MFD's memory card reader or remote memory card reader, then the MFD will not recognize the microSD memory card and will respond in the same manner that it would if no microSD memory card had been inserted into the reader. It is becoming more common for microSD memory cards having capacities of 16 GB and 32 GB to be formatted by the manufacturer with an exFAT file system. MicroSD memory cards having capacities greater than 32 GB will almost certainly be formatted by the manufacturer with an exFAT file system. Accordingly, it would be considered to be a best practice to verify which file system (FAT32, NTFS, or exFAT) has been used to format the microSD memory card before using it with a Raymarine MFD. If found to be formatted with an exFAT file system, then it would be recommended that a computer be used to reformat the microSD memory card with a NTFS file system.
