[CA11] Help choosing A/P please - Captain Starbucks - 09-26-19 09:16 AM

Hi Chuck,

I need help choosing a new autopilot system. I'd like to keep my current pump if possible.

BOAT:
Weight -10,000 lb loaded
Power-Single straight shaft diesel
Volts-12 VDC
Steering Ram - 7.2 cu in Seastar
Currently installed pump -Raymarine Protor 1A 800CC
Currently installed A/P - S1000 with S100 remote
Currently installed MFD - e127

I operate in the Pacific Northwest in the ocean. I need a system that won't panic every time the water gets rough.

Thank you,

Rob

Welcome to the Raymarine Forum Starbucks,

The specified pump, which is part of the S1000 autopilot system, would not have been recommended for a vessel of this size and a steering ram of this capacity. A Type 1 Hydraulic Pump would have been recommended for this application. The Type 1 Hydraulic Pump is included within the T70330 EV-150 Hydraulic and would be applicable if the vessel features a 12VDC power distribution system.
