EV400
Hi Chuck & Others,
Finally got around to removing the old AP and installing my EV400 with the Axiom Pro. First impressions are I love the EV400 - works really nice with the Axiom Pro. It is install on a Waiquez Hood 38 Keeler Sailboat. (13 Ton) with linear hydraulics driven by motor. I have got three residual questions: 1. Can the autopilot be made to auto advance to next Way point? Currently it tells me way point arrival, but I need to tap the screen to advance to next way point else it just sails past way point on current course. 2. When changing course between way points and sometimes when engaging autopilot, for a second or two it causes the helm to quickly oscillate back and forth. Any ideas? 3. I still have the old mechanical leaver to engage hydraulics (see picture) - and by turning this on the wheel locks (then I engage autopilot). Is this what the clutch should do if I had wired it up? The symptom described may be indicative of air within the hydraulic lines or a system in which the rudder reference transducer has not been installed or may be failing. It is recommended that you start by ensuring that the hydraulic lines have been fully bled. Have you installed a rudder reference transducer? What versions of software (MENU->SET-UP->DIAGNOSTICS->ABOUT SYSTEM) are installed within the autopilot components? Q3. A3. Negative. The clutch terminals of the ACU exclusively intended to be connected clutch equipped drive units. |

A1: Thanks for clearing that up.
A2: Will check out what version I am running and for air in the lines. I do have the rudder reference installed. I had to install it 130mm from the shaft (your manual said optimum was 140mm) A3: I am on version 3.07. Is this the latest? |

Please note that the EV400 Evolution autopilot is comprised of three components which have had software updates available since their release. These are the EV-1 CCU, p70/p70R autopilot control head, and ACU-400. Please respond with the version of software installed within each of these components. |
