[CA11] AIS700 and Axiom 9
Greetings everyone,
Sailboat installation of AIS700 and Axiom 9. The AIS700 will be installed at the chart table next to the fixed mount VHF. The Axiom 9 will be at the helm. The distance between the two units is about 15 feet. Questions: 1. What cable should I use to connect the two? I will not be connecting to any other units. 2. Do I need to install the AIS700 antenna outside or can it be mounted near the chart table down below? 3. Can the AIS700 use the internal GPS antenna on the Axiom 9 thus not connecting the AIS700 GPS antenna? Thanks for your help. |

RE: [CA11] AIS700 and Axiom 9
Welcome to the Raymarine Forum LouAnn68,
Q1. What cable should I use to connect the two? I will not be connecting to any other units. A1. Axiom/Axiom Pro/Axiom XL MFDs are designed to be interfaced to one another to to a HS5 RayNet Network Switch via an appropriate length of RayNet (F) to RayNet (F) Cable Q2. Do I need to install the AIS700 antenna outside or can it be mounted near the chart table down below? A2. Like most GPS antennas and GPS sensors, it is recommended that these items be installed in a location affording them an unobstructed view of the skies overhead. Q3. Can the AIS700 use the internal GPS antenna on the Axiom 9 thus not connecting the AIS700 GPS antenna? A3. Please click here to view a FAQ addressing this subject. |
