upgrade c120
I would like to upgrade my c120 with radar and 250 sonar box. I have talked Raymarine and others about a new unit. What I want to do is have both regular sonar-50/200 with current thru hull transducer. But would also like to use a cp100 with it's transom mount transducer. I am told that if I go for an e125-128 series, that there is only one plug in the back and you can't do both. One of your threads on here say that you can turn off the internal sonar and use an external when selected. That would mean I could do both with an e127. What is the correct response? How do you plug two transducer setups in?

RE: upgrade c120
Welcome to the Raymarine Technical Forum Sallysea,

Please note that Raymarine does not offer an e128 MFD, but does offer eS127 and eS128 MFDs. These MFDs feature a single Transducer socket.

Please note that it is possible to simultaneously support and simultaneously display 50/200 KHz ClearPulse (conical) sonar imagery and CHIRP (conical) sonar / DownVision sonar imagery. There are a number of approaches to go about doing so depending upon whether the currently installed fishfinder transducer is a 600W transducer or a 1kW transducer. Should you not know whether a 600W transducer or a 1kW transducer is installed onboard and respond with the information printed on the tag affixed to the plug end of the transducer's cable.

If a 1kW transducer is presently installed onboard, then one of the following options would be recommended:
- install an eS128 MFD w/CHIRP/DownVision Transducer and a CP370 ClearPulse Sounder Module (to be interfaced to the currently installed 1kW transducer).
- install an eS125 MFD, CP100 CHIRP/DownVision Sounder Module w/CHIRP/DownVision Transducer and a CP370 ClearPulse Sounder Module (to be interfaced to the currently installed 1kW transducer), and HS5 RayNet Network Switch ... this option limits the number of cables which have to be routed to the MFD by serving as an Ethernet hub for the system.

If a 600W transducer is presently installed onboard, then one of the following options would be recommended:
- install an eS127 MFD (to be interfaced to the currently installed 600W transducer) and CP100 CHIRP/DownVision Sounder Module w/CHIRP/DownVision Transducer.
- install an eS125 MFD, CP100 CHIRP/DownVision Sounder Module w/CHIRP/DownVision Transducer and a CP370 ClearPulse Sounder Module (to be interfaced to the currently installed 600W transducer), and HS5 RayNet Network Switch ... this option limits the number of cables which have to be routed to the MFD by serving as an Ethernet hub for the system.

RE: upgrade c120
I have a 600KW transducer, so the eS127 sounds like the cheaper route. What you are saying is there is ability to attach the Cp100 and the 50/200 transducer to this unit ?

RE: upgrade c120
The eS127 has two Ethernet Network sockets. If a HS5 RayNet Network Switch will not be installed, then the CP100 and radar will be connected to the MFD's Ethernet Network sockets. The currently installed 600W transducer will be adapted (w/E66066 Transducer Adapter Cable) to mate to the eS127 MFD's Transducer socket. The CHIRP/DownVision transducer will be interfaced to the CP100's Transducer socket.

RE: upgrade c120
Since I am upgrading the c120, I failed to mention that it is built in and an adapter is available for the e127 shape. Is there one that will fit the eS127 in the same [censored]?

RE: upgrade c120
Raymarine offers the following adapter mounting kits (mounting plate, trim bezel, and sun cover) to replace flush mounted MFDs with c/e-Series MFDs:
• R70010 (C/E80 Classic MFDs)
• R70011 (C/E120 Classic MFDs)
• R70008 (C/E90W MFDs)
• R70009 (C/E120W MFDs)

Raymarine does not presently offer adapter mounting kits to replace flush mounted MFDs with an e7x MFD, e165 MFD, or an a/eS/gS-Series MFD.

RE: upgrade c120
ok, so an adapter is not available to flush mount the es127 in replacement of my C120. Will an e127 have the terminals in the back to do the same thing I requested in earlier posts? I can see that an adapter is available to flush mount the e127.

RE: upgrade c120
An e127 MFD would be interfaced in an identical manner as had been specified previously by me for the eS127. Similarly, An e125 MFD would be interfaced in an identical manner as had been specified previously by me for the eS125.

RE: upgrade c120
This is great, finally got the answer I needed. One last question, I see e127 units for sale as refurbished units. There is some cost savings in getting one, but is the warranty as good? Is there a down side?

RE: upgrade c120
Raymarine's Factory Refurbished Products are fully tested and carry the same warranty as new products. Raymarine Factory Refurbished products offer significant savings over the new products. As such, when outfitting my own boat, I first checked the Raymarine Online Store's offerings for available factory refurbished products.
